This Week in History - 2 November 2012

On this day in 2000, the first group of people boarded the international space station.  Though it is difficult to report a single cost of the space station project, roughly $150 billion dollars have been spent on the space station (including cost of initial construction and ongoing missions) between all the nations involved in the space station project.  The international space station stands as enduring symbol of human ingenuity and remains an engineering marvel.  It is testament to the teamwork and cooperation of the international community.

Throughout its short existence, the international space station has allowed for numerous biological, medicinal, and physical discoveries.  It remains at the forefront of scientific research today.
