Current Events - 2 November 2012

In case you missed it...

This weekend saw a massive hurricane wreck havoc on the Northeastern seaboard of the United States.  Recent death tolls from Hurricane Sandy are at around 60 people.  The cost of damaged property and lost business times is estimated in the billions.  The question that everybody is asking now is whether or not the hurricane's irregular trajectory was caused by climate change.  Though scientists often have a difficult time attributing any specific natural disaster to climate change, many are starting to weigh in.  The calamity comes amidst the final week before the presidential election.  Many commentators have expressed concern that the fallout from the storm will greatly diminish voter turnout in the northeast.
