What's All That Buzz? 11/1/2010

Tuesday, November 2nd is election day in the United States. Election day occurs on the first Tuesday of November and depending on the year, includes races for local, state, and national elections. The entire House of Representatives is up for election every two years, and one third of the Senate is up for election every two years as each Senator is elected for a term of six years. This year's mid term election (an election occurring midway through the term of the President) is especially contested between both Democrats and Republicans. Democrats presently hold majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate but Republicans are hoping to change that this Tuesday. A majority in both houses of congress makes it easier to push that majority party's agenda through the legislature. There are many hotly contested races this year including the Florida Senate, California Senate, and Nevada Senate races.
